Improvements From a Brow Lift

A brow lift, also called a forehead lift, provides men and women numerous improvements, which include:

  • Smoothing forehead creases and vertical frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Lifting drooping eyebrows
  • Opening the upper eye area

Many brow lift patients have used BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments to improve these concerns but are seeking more significant, longer-lasting correction. In many cases, people who thought they needed eyelid surgery find out during their consultations that a brow lift is more appropriate to meet their cosmetic goals. A brow lift is often a good complement to other facial plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift.

About Brow Lift Surgery

Brow lift surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure in our on-site surgical facility. The procedure takes 1 to 2 hours to complete and can be performed with local or IV sedation or general anesthesia.

Most brow lift procedures are performed with the aid of an endoscope. The endoscope is an advanced surgical tool that consists of a small, flexible wand with a camera attached to the end. By using the endoscope, Dr. Calobrace or Dr. Quintero only needs to make a few, very small incisions along the scalp to access underlying tissues. Occasionally, he will perform a full coronal incision, which runs across the scalp from ear to ear.

What to Expect During Recovery

Patient experiences vary after brow lift surgery. You may experience temporary swelling, numbness, bruising, and headaches.

Return to Work

Patients are usually ready to return to work within 5 to 10 days; more strenuous activity should be limited for at least 3 weeks.

Other Things to Know

Bruising may last 2 to 3 weeks. Exposure to the sun must be limited for the first several months. While surgery cannot stop the aging process, the results of a brow lift may last for 5 to 10 years.
