Many women during puberty or after childbirth may see their labia minora become unusually large or misshapen. Other women develop a loss of fullness in the labia majora after menopause. The anatomy of the female genitalia can vary significantly. Like breast sizes, the desired appearance of the labia will vary with individual preferences.
In some individuals, the labia minora (the inner frond of tissue) can be quite large and redundant, creating both a cosmetic and sometimes even a functional concern. Some women develop hypertrophic or enlarged labia minora after multiple childbirths or as a result of aging.
The best candidates for labiaplasty are healthy women who have oversized, sagging, or asymmetrical inner or outer labia. Improvements from this procedure include:

Reduction of the labia minora is the most common genital enhancement surgery for women. Many women choose to combine labiaplasty with vaginal rejuvenation (vaginoplasty) to tighten and repair the vagina and surrounding tissues. Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure usually performed under local anesthesia. Most patients will take oral pain medication and/or sedatives. Twilight or general anesthesia is also available and can be performed in our AAAASF-approved operating rooms. The procedure takes less than 1 hour.

Women need to be at least 18 years old to have this procedure.
Labiaplasty will not affect future childbirth or delivery.
Any vigorous activity involving the surgical site should be avoided for 4 to 6 weeks. Patients may immediately resume workouts that are restricted to unaffected areas such as exercises limited to the arms and shoulders.
Soaking in hot tubs and swimming may be resumed 4 weeks after labiaplasty.
Tanning after labiaplasty is not restricted, but any surgical site should be covered to protect the skin.
