A Brazilian butt lift is a fat transfer procedure performed by Dr. Calobrace or Dr. Quintero as an outpatient procedure using a local or general anesthetic. First, fat is collected using liposuction. The surgeon takes special care to keep as many fat cells alive as possible. Many patients choose to have areas of the body or face sculpted at this time such as the hips, thighs, or under the chin.
After the harvested fat is prepared, it is injected into the desired areas of the buttocks. While not all of the transferred fat will take, the fat that is viable after 3 months is likely to remain that way.

Learn MorePatient experiences vary after a Brazilian butt lift; in general, you can expect areas where fat was harvested and where it was placed on the buttocks to be sore, swollen, and bruised. A standard compression garment will need to be worn for approximately 1 week after the procedure to minimize swelling and encourage smooth results.
Most patients are ready to return to work in about 1 week but should avoid sitting for extended periods and refrain from strenuous exercise for about 2 to 3 weeks.
